To those of you returning to Room 3, I look forward to another great year, with you as leaders. And if you are like Judah, and heading to another school, all the best from us. Have a fun summer break everyone, see you in 2013!

Week 6? Really?

Somehow it is week 6 already, meaning that after this week there is only 3 more weeks of school left. After such a busy year, it would be easy to think we were just winding down, but things are as hectic as ever. Athletics is the immediate focus, but there is plenty more going on, both inside and outside the classroom.

Cricket

Last week we had cricket coaching from Nelson Cricket's Jon Routhan. The kids had a great time doing their skill sessions and fielding and bowling drills. Hopefully this will be the start of some primary school cricket in the Motueka area. I know Room 3 will be out in the sun this term as often as possible seeing if we can develop the next Dan Vettori or Brendon McCullum!

Term 4 -homework-

Firstly, welcome back! A special welcome to Ella, who has joined Room 3 from another school in Motueka. Secondly, our homework this term is going to be quite different... The children have been given a list of activities for them to do. These are things that they can do at home, which will hopefully (eventually!) make things easier. This ties in nicely with our focus for the term, which is to look at ways we can contribute to our community. We will continue to do Reading/Reading Logs as well, but there will be no weekly sheets going home. They will also have spelling words at school. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Have fun!

Production DONE!

Well, after a full term (and some) of practising songs, learning lines, searching for costumes, building props, tweaking, changing, fixing, sorting; and spending days and days away from school going through the show from start to finish (and sometimes from finish to start!)we are finally done! And it was definitely a show to be proud of! The kids put in a tremendous amount of effort and can be extremely proud and pleased with the finished product. I hope you all had a chance to come along and see the kids in all their glory. Here are the last couple of pictures from the final show...
Apologies to parents if there is no photo of your child! I tried hard to get everyone, but it was very difficult... Check out the other classes' blogsites too!

Could be worse...

We think that we have had some horrible, cold weather lately, but it is nothing compared to what has been happening down south. These photos were taken yesterday by my parents, at their place in Lumsden. Brrr!!!

Production!

"C.A.B we love 'em. B.A G we love 'em. C.A.B.B.A.G.E.S! Cabbages!" Parents, if you haven't been hearing this sung at home yet, I will be incredibly surprised! We are full swing into our production practices, and the diamond that is 'The Cabbage Patch Dragon' is definitely sounding more polished by the day. We are looking more and more like a fine troupe of actors with every scene, and we are consistently making Glee look like a second-rate bunch of hacks (in my opinion though, this isn't to hard to do...). Tickets for this extraveganza are on sale at the office, any day now. We look forward to seeing you, and all your friends, there!

Junior Cross Country

Finally! After many false starts and wetness, we finally had a run of sunny days long enough to be able to run our Junior Cross Country. There was a tremendous amount of excitement in the air as the kids waited their turn. As you will see, there was a sea of smiles, as the children ran their little legs off, and their hearts out. It was especially terrific to see our pre-schoolers have a go, (and then ask if they could do it again!)and also a few brave parents (who didn't ask to do it again...)! Anyway, enjoy the photos...
I would also like to welcome Izzy to our class. She has joined us in the last week or 2, and has instantly settled. Her younger sister Phoebe is in Room 2. This, in some way offsets the loss of Angelica, who, along with her sister Chloe, is off to Brightwater School. We will miss having Angelica's bright cheery smile in Room 3, and wish her and her family all the best.
